He Is There

James Weidner III   -

Introduction:

  • Today’s message is entitle *He Is There*
  • I challenged you to turn on your hearts, and your ears and your brains, lets dig together. Let us be thinking man and women of God.
  • There are certain truths that are believed and central to all man kind, though many times and in many ways believed upon erroneously.
  • One of these truths is God’s divine presence or omnipresence or divine immanence.
  • Even false religions or belief systems will acknowledge God’s divine presence and His glory though, because of the rebellion in their heart will give credit of His glory to another.
  • The atheist and agnostic spend their life trying to convince themselves and the world around them of how God doesn’t exist, when the argument and effort itself is proof of His existence.
  • The Lord God Almighty encompasses His entire Creation with His Presence.
  • There is no place no one can flee from the mighty Presence of God.
  • Simply put: He Is There!

1. The Lord is Omnipresent:

Jeremiah 23:23-24 (NKJV) 23 ”Am I a God near at hand,” says the LORD, “And not a God afar off? 24 Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?” says the LORD; “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the LORD.

1.1. The doctrine of Omnipresence declares that our God is Everywhere Present and Present everywhere at once.

“Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the LORD.

1.1.1. Fill a glass of water and the glass is full of water.
1.1.2. From the mouth of God comes the impossible question for us to be able to answer with any real experience so one must really upon faith and trusting in the sincerity of our God’s Word. 1.2. God dwells in, through and with His creation.

1.2.1. So let us be bold to declare the Lord’s omnipresence.
1.2.2. This concept appears in our words and to a degree in our actions but yet we may be bullied into shying away from the full implications of this truth of just how present the Presence of God is.
1.3. God is at all times present yet not at all times manifest; Yet He is at all times manifest yet not at all times acknowledged.

Romans 1:20 (NKJV) For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 1.3.1. God is made manifest at all times through His creation.

2. Let’s now briefly deal with the erroneous teachings of divine immanence so that we can be freed to enjoy the full implications of this truth.

Romans 1:25 (NKJV) who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

2.1. The reality is that we do not give God enough credit for the nearness of His presence.

2.1.1. Perhaps for the fear of being charged with Pantheism, which has believers shying away from the depth of realities of an omnipresent God.

2.2. Pantheism and Omnipresence are two completely different concepts. 2.2.1. One being a truth and one being a major part of the deception. “served the creature rather than the Creator”

2.3. Pantheism’s error teaches that God is the sum of all created things. 2.3.1. The idea that Nature and God are one.
2.3.2. The concept of Mother Nature and the ever increasing worship of the creature rather that the Creator.
2.3.3. The term a sacred cow… : Ela… in Hinduism? Mata. Hindus believe the cow to be a sacred animal, providing life-sustaining milk.
2.3.4. I personally love nature and the creatures that live within… I love watching them, hearing them, smelling it, hunting them, fishing for them, eating them, ect.
2.3.5. However, never is the creature or nature or the things in this world to be mistaken for some kind of divinity.

2.4. The theology of omnipresence is a fine line to communicate but mainly due to the errors of pantheism.
2.4.1. Ela… I once witnessed the falling away of a close relationship over the use of the preposition *in*.
2.4.2. Theology books like to attempt to draw a line between *God being every where* but not being *in* everything.
2.4.3. I would ask how can God be everywhere without being in everything. Cows are considered to be a manifestation of the Mother Goddess Gau

2.4.4. And secondly God being in everything does not make everything God or make everyone saved.

2.4.5. This is a different use of the word *in* not a different theology about God.

2.5. Let us not make God smaller because satan has sowed confusion in the reality that our Creator is everywhere – He Is There!

*The goal of diving to these depths is to say…..

3. His Presence is all encompassing.

1 Kings 8:27-28 (NKJV) 27 “But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built! 28 Yet regard the prayer of Your servant and his supplication, O LORD my God, and listen to the cry and the prayer which Your servant is praying before You today:

3.1. God’s presence cannot be contained.
3.1.1. Like trying to contain the waters of the ocean
3.1.2. Or the oxygen in the air
3.1.3. So the Creator cannot be contained by any created thing, fro neither within or without, and everything except God has been created by Him.

John 20:19 That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said.

3.2. God’s presence is the very essence of God.
3.2.1. As hydrogen and oxygen together form water.
3.2.2. As hydrogen and carbon together form crude oil.
3.2.3. As a body, a soul and a Spirit form a human being.
3.2.4. So God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit are God and are made known to us by the essence of His Presence being felt, seen, heard, tasted everywhere

Psalms 34:8 (NKJV) Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

3.3. Even Heaven is part of God’s creation; created to this end to be the place offend for His glorious presence, and is His abode forever and here He will dwell and gloriously manifest Himself to all eternity for eternity.

Isa 66:1 Thus says the LORD: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest?

3.3.1. Jonathan Edwards: “ God considered with respect to His essence is every where. He fills both heaven and earth. But yet he is said, in some respects to be more especially in some places than in others. He is said of old to dwell in the land of Israel, above all other lands: and in Jerusalem, above all other cities of that land; and in the Temple above all other buildings, in the holy of hollies above all the compartments in the temple and on the mercy seat over the ark of the covenant, above all other places in the holy of holies. But heaven is his dwelling place above all other places in the universe.”

3.4. His Presence is bigger, stronger, mightier, than anything known to man. 3.4.1. His Presence makes UY Scuti (5 billion suns could fit within) look like a mustard seed.
3.4.2. His presence makes the hardest diamonds seem like puddy. 3.4.3. And the strongest hurricane like a gentle spring breeze.

3.5. His presence is all encompassing – He Is There!

4. There is no place to hide.

Ps 139:7 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? 8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.

4.1. So the Psalmist ask the question: Where can we go?
4.1.1. The simple answer is no where because He is There!

4.2. There are times when we intentionally attempt to make our bed in a hiding place.

4.2.1. There is no place you can go in the universe where you are any closer or any further from God that you are right now.

4.3. Tozer –

4.3.1.“there is no place, there can be no place, where he is not. No point is nearer to God than any other point. It is exactly as near to God from any place as it is from any other place. No one is in me distance any further from or any near to God than any other person is. These are truth believe by every instructed Christian. It remains for us to think on them, and pray over them until they begin to glow with us.”

4.3.2. “In the beginning, God, the uncaused cause of matter, mind in law. There we must begin Adam, send, and, in his panic, frantically tried to do the impossible: he tried to hide from the presence of God.”

4.4. Ela… To remove God’s presence from any and every part of creation would be like trying to remove a father’s DNA from his child. It cannot be done.

4.5. Or like trying to remove the wet from water, which would in turn mean it is not water any longer.

5. Coming out of a dark place.

9 If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” Even the night shall be light about me;
12 Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day;
The darkness and the light are both alike to You.

5.1. There are times when we find ourselves in dark places.
5.2. Days in the weeks weeks turn in the months and months years from being away from and pursuing the manifest presence of God.
5.3. Next thing we know, we find darkness all around us darkness in our thoughts darkness in our life only darkness when we look into the future.

5.4. The palms it states, the darkness shall not hide from you in the darkness and light are both alike.

5.5. The light of the Lord penetrates the darkness of man it is not darkness to him.

Conclusion:

  • So let us acknowledge the infinitude of God’s presence and understand that He Is There.
  • Let us repent for our lack of faith and acknowledgement.Communion!
